Meeting New Friends

Meet my new friend Boots. Last Saturday Boots showed up at Seth's house. He gave it some cat treats and some petting. Sunday Boots was there. Seth's cousins came over for dinner and Tom said it was a girl. Seth's parents kept saying "don't feed it!" They weren't so much in the market for a cat. Monday Seth came home from work and they'd built the cat a house and put out a saucer of milk. At this point they named her "Boots". Seth went out and bought cat food. By Wednesday night when the weather turned really cold for central Georgia, they decided she needed to sleep in the old storage building. They rigged up a litterbox.
Seth asked me to come to Pine Mountain this morning to help him take Boots to the vet. We waited in the lobby and one mean dog and one nice dog. Boots was not happy about any of this. We finally went back to see the vet. She walked in and took one look and said, "We have a neutered male." What?!? Obviously Tom was wrong. Boots was loving on all of us and the vet the whole time we were talking. Then she took HIM to the back to weigh him and give him some medicine. He wasn't as loving to the vet when she brought him back out. He's a great cat. Very sweet. Smart. Seth and I went to lunch with Mr. Ray (his dad) after the vet visit. Mr. Ray said he'd been thinking about a way to build Boots his own house area. (The storage building is not a permanent solution.) Yes, that man who, one week ago, didn't want to feed the stray that had taken up with them, now is planning construction projects to give the cat a better life. Too funny. Seth wrote about Boots over on his blog, too.

I do audio for weddings at church and had a wedding today. It was a really sweet ceremony for a sweet young couple. I took this photo from the audio booth while everyone was getting ready before the wedding.

I need to go study my Sunday School lesson now. Have a great weekend.

Here's yesterday picture that I didn't get blogged, but wanted to share just because I liked it. This church is on the corner where I turn going to work.

I laid around all day today in my pajamas. I don't know why I've been so tired, but every now and them you (at least, I) need a day like that.

Saturday in Pine Mountain

I went to Pine Mountain today to hang out with Seth. After lunch at San Marcos (the best Mexican food in West Central Georgia), we visited his neighbors. We only go there to see the animals. This is their horse, Apollo. He's normally not very friendly, but he was following me along the fence today. I think he posed for this picture. It turned out really great.

This is BarnCat. She is exceptionally sweet. Purrs all the time. Very lovable. Adorable, too, but you can see that for yourself.

We went over to Callaway Gardens and visited the Day Butterfly Center.

And the Discovery Center, where I tried using the self-timer on my camera to take a self-portrait. Honest. Seth didn't want his picture taken and he was hiding.

I like going to Callaway. It's a really nice place that has a special quality to it. It's only about a thirty minute drive, but when you go there, you feel like you're far away from real life.

This is the scarf I made Seth for Christmas. Bernat Denim in Faded Khaki. Knit double stranded in a 1 x 1 rib on size 13 needles. It matches the hat I made him last year.

Picture Heavy

A week ago Saturday, the 21st, Seth and I went to Callaway Gardens. We saw pretty flowers and butterflies. . .

We heard an organ concert at the Chapel.

The lake outside the Chapel was so peaceful.

We went to the Sibley Center and saw even more beautiful flowers.

We even rode paddle boats. It was my idea. He wasn't enthusiastic. We got in the boat and it was hard work. He was all, "See, I knew you'd do this. We'd get out here and you'd whine about how hard it is." We just took it easy and it was fun. If you try to go fast, it's hard. If you just take a leisurely pace, it's much more fun.

He has a picture of both of us from where we paddle over to another boat and passed his camera to the people in the other boat and they took a picture for us.

RIP Downtown Saturdays

Today was Seth's last Saturday working. He's a Monday through Friday guy now. The gazebo to the right is outside his office on the Broadway median. We've been having lunch downtown (or uptown, as the marketers would have us describe it) most Saturdays since October. Usually it's fast food. Today we went to Country's Barbecue, because it's our last downtown lunch. It's a great local place with lots of atmosphere in an old bus depot. Best sweet tea anywhere. Afterward I went to a Warm Up America meeting at Hobby Lobby. I was the only one knitting among a plethora of crocheters. Interesting. While I was there, Kim - the WUA local coordinator - and I talked to the Hobby Lobby manager about World Wide Knit in Public Day. Kim introduced me by saying, "This is Holly. She's sort of in charge of knitting in Columbus." Yeah, right. Anyway, they're going to let us have a knit-in there on WWKIP Day, June 14th. That's a load off of my mind. Afterward I went to a Fred's store next to the Hobby Lobby that's closing and got some great deals. A very nice Saturday, indeed.

Yarns of Late

This pretty flower was outside the window of Burger King Saturday when Seth and I were eating lunch. Gotta love spring, except for the pollen.



Sunday was Seth's birthday. I got some mini cupcakes and took them to Sunday School. Two of the kids wouldn't eat them. The rest did. Lucas proclaimed, "These are tasty!" In fact, they were. Graham got crumbs all over herself.


Seth's sister's birthday is tomorrow. We celebrated both of their birthdays Sunday night at their folks' house. Here's Seth's cousin Tom and Seth's dad, Mr. Ray, grilling steaks.

Hats off to Judy, a new knitter from the knitting group. Judy learned last night how to bind off. She's got a great little swatch she knitted. Yea, Judy!!! We all clapped when she held it up. All of Panera turned to see what was happening.


Sunday, Thad preached from Hebrews 13:5 & 6. It was about Finding Contentment. He had three steps towards finding contentment.

1. Give more.
2. Expect less.
3. Seek Jesus.

Silver, Shopping, Knitting, Silver, Church

Today is March 1st. Did you know it's Big Bonanza Silver Day? You do if you watch QVC.They call it Big Bonanza Silver Day because it was March 1st however many years ago that silver was first discovered in Nevada. I love sterling silver jewelry. If I didn't live paycheck to paycheck, I would have bought a lot of silver today. It's so pretty, and they have so much of it. I've been watching all day and looking at all the pretty jewelry. I haven't ordered anything, but it isn't midnight yet.

I had lunch with PMF today. Subway. Then I went to Bath & Body Works to use coupons. I had four coupons so I had to make four transactions to use them all. I got all this for about $35. I calculated the actual price if I didn't have the coupons and it was around $105 (that doesn't include the Fekkai sample). That always makes me feel better about spending, when I save so much! If you haven't tried the Dr. Patricia Wexler skin care, you should. It's amazing. Then I went to AC Moore and got this:

That's a size three circular needle. I need to get one more (once I have another coupon), so I can do socks on two circular needles. I'm just a little tired of dealing with the dpns.

Okay, it's midnight. It's now or never. I went to qvc.com and ordered these: Item number J14149. There are Guardian Angels on the earrings. Cute. Leverbacks. (I love a leverback earring!) On waitlist. Well, if it's meant to be, it'll happen. If not, then I know it wasn't meant to be.

Our new senior pastor starts tomorrow. I'm so excited. This is the most optimistic time I remember at church in a long time - more than 6 years ago IMHO. There's also a reception for his family tomorrow afternoon. I'll report on the day tomorrow night.

Another Week Gone

Okay. I'm feeling better. Still a little stuffy, coughy, and sore throaty, but way better than last week.

I've been lost in ravelry tonight. I found a new group for fans of the show "Good Eats". I just love Alton Brown. He's smart, funny, and so much fun to watch. He makes some good tv.

We had a busy week at work, not crazy busy like it has been, but busy none the less. Yesterday they started installing a new phone system. I'm going to have a direct line!! Woo-Hoo!! Actually we all are. Our new news starts Monday. We're launching our new website next week. (Here's our old site. It's pretty bad. Go look now and by next weekend, it'll be totally different. So if you're reading this after November 15, that link will take you to our new site.) Lots of things going on at the tv station.

I'm going to sleep late tomorrow and then work on Daddy's vest while I watch Game Day. Clemson plays on ESPN2 at noon. I'm supposed to do something fun with the PMF tomorrow. We'll see if he feels like coming to town.

The weather is cooling off and I like it!

Cable Found

I found my USB cable and thus, you are able to see the lovely WIP (that's "work in progress" for you non-knitters) I told you about in my last post.

Today is Saturday and it's the first Saturday since I quit my part time job. I enjoyed the job and I'm definitely going to miss the people, but I just so needed my weekends back. I slept until 8am this morning. Unheard of in my world. It was so nice sitting on the couch in my pajamas eating grits and bacon and toast. I might miss my sausage bisquit and hashbrowns from McDonald's, but I had to eat those while driving. . . not on the couch in my pajamas. Ahhh. So here it is almost noon, and guess what! Still in my pajamas!

I will make my way to the shower shortly. I'm babysitting tonight for my litle friend Catherine. She's so much fun. I've already picked out some nail polish.

I also need to get my Sunday School lesson studied sometime today. Oh, the pressure.
