Saturday in Pine Mountain

I went to Pine Mountain today to hang out with Seth. After lunch at San Marcos (the best Mexican food in West Central Georgia), we visited his neighbors. We only go there to see the animals. This is their horse, Apollo. He's normally not very friendly, but he was following me along the fence today. I think he posed for this picture. It turned out really great.
This is BarnCat. She is exceptionally sweet. Purrs all the time. Very lovable. Adorable, too, but you can see that for yourself.
We went over to Callaway Gardens and visited the Day Butterfly Center.
And the Discovery Center, where I tried using the self-timer on my camera to take a self-portrait. Honest. Seth didn't want his picture taken and he was hiding.
I like going to Callaway. It's a really nice place that has a special quality to it. It's only about a thirty minute drive, but when you go there, you feel like you're far away from real life.
This is the scarf I made Seth for Christmas. Bernat Denim in Faded Khaki. Knit double stranded in a 1 x 1 rib on size 13 needles. It matches the hat I made him last year.

Stitch & Pitch with the Columbus Catfish

Last night the Knitters and I went to Columbus Catfish game.

We had a sky box! We put a sign on the door so everyone could find us:The announcer was right next door. I took this picture of him reading the starting lineup from our balcony.
Deb and her husband John relax before the game.

This is the view out the door from the sky box. For those of you unfamiliar with Columbus' Historic Golden Park, that's the Chattahoochee River running through the center of the picture. The trees on the other side of the river are in Alabama. Bit of trivia: During the 1996 Olympics Women's Fast Pitch Softball debuted here as an Olympic event. I was a Press Ops Volunteer. It was very exciting.

Julie with her son, Sam, and her husband, Kevin.

Laura and I check out the balcony before the game.

Lacy and her husband, Josh, pose on the balcony following the game.

Post game photo (Julie's family left early): John, Deb, me, Lacy, and Laura. Thanks, Josh, for taking the picture.

The Catfish played the Greenville Drive. The Drive is almost my hometown team from South Carolina. They beat the Catfish 15-9. It doesn't matter. I was there for the knitting and the Knitters.

What Fun!

I had great fun today. A girl who's come to my knitting group once, I think, teaches knitting at A.C. Moore, a local craft store. She posted a note on the group message board last week about needing some knitters to come to their knitting festival today to help them publicise knitting and yarn and best of all, they'll pay you $50! Well, I jumped on that opportunity. Get paid to knit? Sign me up! Another girl from the group, Lacey, signed up,too. It was the most fun. We got there and got settled and started knitting by about 10am. I was working on, you guessed it, "Yo, Drop It!" We chatted and knit and walked around and looked at yarn. It was all very fun. Misty, who had done the recruiting, told me, "Go grab you some pizza in the break room." While I was back there I looked at the clock and it was 1pm. I'd thought maybe it was noon. Then, poof, it was 2. And, poof, it was 3 and we were done! Time really does fly when you're having fun. And it was so much fun.

Afterward I went up to Pine Mountain and had some yummy Mexican food with my PMF. We also walked around their Arts and Crafts festival where I saw Beth, from the knitting group checked out her booth and amazed everyone with my ability to recognize yarn. When we got back to his house, we watched the end of the Clemson game. Sadly, they suffered their first loss of the year. Oh, well. All the fun I had today had to be balanced out somehow.

It's a New Year!

These are some of my Sunday School students hiding in the "Rabbit Hole". Today was our last day with this group of two-year-olds who are pretty much all now three-year-olds. They are smart and sweet and really "get-it". Following a lesson about King Saul and how we're supposed to trust God and not worry, the one on the left when his mom was stressed about money problems told her "Mommy, don't worry. We're supposed to trust God." How. Cool. Is. That.

These are the new two-year-olds. They are a super sweet group and lots and lots of fun. We're going to have a great year with them.
Tomorrow, I'm going here! Oh, boy! Can't wait.
